ARRIVAL- A Gentle Way to Begin the Year
Lisa Weninger | JAN 4

Hello,
In 2026, my intention is to send out a monthly newsletter. I do not believe in doing a resolution every new year. I have never followed through, even though I really wanted to. Instead, I choose to tune into my physical and emotional body and find one word that resonates how I would like the next year to feel and look like. Do you feel like this is something that may spark a little flame to light you up? I'd like to share the word I chose for myself with you, because my newsletters I will be sending out monthly, will always reflect this word.
My word of the year is EMBODIED, which means feeling more at home, safe and grounded in your body. I feel it honors my work as a provider of relaxation because I can only guide others where I'm willing to live myself. The word Embodied asks one simple question all year long: "How do I want to feel in my body?". We don't always feel healthy in our body as we age. Maybe you are dealing with chronic health conditions, menopause or mental health issues. Last year was a doozy for me trying to figure out why instead of feeling my age, I felt like I was 100 years old. Thankfully, I did get some answers and relief from painful symptoms, and my hope is 2026 will bring back wellness. On the flip side, have you arrived at the point in your life where you don't give a sh*t anymore what people think or say about you? I am there. I want to be comfortable in my own body, do the things that bring me joy, live a life that delivers peace and not have to wear a mask to fit in. I just want to be me. That is being Embodied.

January invites us to gently arrive. Rather than rushing full force into 2026, this month is about settling into the present moment and allowing your body to catch up where you are at in life. There is nothing to fix or improve right now, just the opportunity to be present in your mind and body. When I start to feel like I am not anchored into my body and anxiety starts to act up, this is what I plan to do to calm and ground myself. I would like to extend this 1-Minute Relaxation gift to you if you'd like to give it a try.

*Find somewhere to sit comfortably with both feet on the floor. If you are lucky enough to be somewhere warm, put your bare feet on the ground. Place one hand onto your heart, the other on your belly. Close your eyes and use my words or use words that feel aligned for you. Say...I Am Stillness NOT Stress, (while you slowly inhale through the nose and exhale forcefully through the mouth- allowing the shoulders and jaw to fully relax.) Continue this for 2 more breaths, or as many times as needed to find your calm.
Thank you for taking a moment to pause with me.
May this offering support you in feeling a little more grounded, relaxed, and present as you move through your days.
If your body is asking for deeper rest or support, I offer reflexology sessions in Harvey at Dakota Plains Chiropractic and in Carrington at Central City Wellness. I would be honored if you allow me to create a space where your body can soften, breathe and reset. If you'd like support settling into your body and releasing tension, relaxing sessions are always available when you feel ready. Contact me directly if you'd like a session in Carrington. You can contact me directly or make an online appointment from my webpage if you'd like a session in Harvey.
As January begins, consider giving yourself permission to start slowly, to just arrive gently into your body. Small moments of presence can make a meaningful difference. Feel more at home in your body, one embodied pause at a time.
Until next time my friends...with softness and care, always,
